Search page don't always show results when it should

Administrateur
Hi,

First of all I use Koha 16.0503000 on Debian.

Everything works fine but I have one problem. If I do a search, I can
see the results but sometime (randomly) when I click on a page number,
Koha tells me that he has no results. If I refresh the same page (1 or 2
time, depends) then the results are showed.

How can I fix this ?

I have two different Koha installations (prod and test) but it's the
same problem. I updated my test server to the latest koha version
available on apt (16.1105000) and then again, same problem.

Thanks.

Sometimes I'm experiencing similar issues. I'm not sure but to me it
seems these are problems caused by the webbrowser and/or the webbrowser
cache and/or Plack. Usually they can be solved by clearing the
webbrowser's cache (e. g. in Mozilla Firefox the cache can be cleared by
pressing CTRL+F5).

If the problem persists I tend to restart Koha (including Plack) using
the following command:

$ sudo koha-common restart

However, these are just hints, no solutions. Since Koha works with
Webserver (Apache), Plack, Memcached, Webbrowser-Cache, Javascript... it
all has become a little intransparent to me... esepecially if more than
one person uses the same login from different machines etc.

Maybe it's the same problem because you're using the same webbrowser
when accessing productive and test installation?

Maybe this helps (a little)

Best wishes: Michael

Hi Michael,

Thanks for your answer.
It doesn't seems to be a browser issue because other people reported me
the bug. And I already tried in private mode where the cache is supposed
to be empty.
Doesn't seems to be linked to the account neither because the bug occur
even when not logged in.

I restarted my test server (=koha-common restart) and it's the same. I
have really no clue about this.

Search page don't always show results when it should

In reply to this post by Administrateur
Hi,

I'm sending this message again because I still haven't found a solution.

This is not related to my browser and rebooting the server doesn't
change anything.

Re: Search page don't always show results when it should

Jonathan Druart
Hello "admin",

What you describe is very weird: launch a search, click on a page number,
then "No results found" is displayed, you refresh and you see the expected
results? That's it?

I'd try the English interface (not translated) and check Koha logs.

Regards,
Jonathan

Re: Search page don't always show results when it should

Jonathan Druart
Hi,
Please answer to the list.

Does it happen on both staff and OPAC interfaces?
Everytime? randomly? with different search results? always the same page?

Is the OPAC public?

Jonathan

Re: Search page don't always show results when it should

Administrateur
Hi,

I tried this too but no improvement. Still random no results screen.
When I rebuilt the library I had this error popping : "item-level_itypes
set but no itemtype set for item (3707) at
/usr/share/koha/lib/Koha/Schema/Result/Item.pm line 698." hundreds of times.

And to answer the previous message,
the problem appear on OPAC interface only. There are always results in
the staff interface. So I guess the problem comes from Zebra.
The term doesn't matter, sometime the results will be displayed,
sometime it says no results.

The OPAC is public.

Katrin Fischer-2
Hi Joël,

are you using OpacSuppression (system preference) or OpacHiddenItems by
chance? Especially OpacHiddenItems can create 'holes' in your result
lists which might be an explanation why the staff interface displays the
results differently.

Re: Search page don't always show results when it should

Hi,

I've checked on my system preference but I don't not use OpacHiddenItems
nor OpacSuppression.
This bug is driving me crazy. I can't do anything to fix it and it's
really annoying for the users.

Got access to the OPAC.
We already seen this error before but cannot remember what was the cause:

If you search for 'europe':
/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?q=europe&branch_group_limit=

The link to page 2 is:
http://81.57.170.67/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?q=europe%20%23relevance_asc&offset=60&sort_by=relevance_asc

"%20%23relevance_asc" is superfluous.

Maybe OPACUserJS?

Hi,

Thanks to Jonathan Druart I was able to fix my problem. Huge thanks to
him and all who tried to help me.
You simply have to set "UseQueryParser" to "do not try" and no more "no
results found" when browsing results page.

> You simply have to set "UseQueryParser" to "do not try" and no more "no

The text near system preference "UseQueryParser" says:

"[Do not try|Try] to use the QueryParser module for parsing queries.
Please note: enabling this will have no impact if you do not have
QueryParser installed, and everything will continue to work as usual."

So the note seems not to be true.

Best wishes: Michael
