Re: Arabic Koha Translation Contribution - who done what

Karam Qubsi
Dear Mr. Massoud ,

First I would like to thank you and your team for your efforts in managing the Arabic translation work for recent releases .

Koha is open-source software and anyone can contribute to it and everyone who contribute should get credit for that , this is very known in open source communities .

if someone developed something in old releases of Koha his name will never be removed from contributors list , no matter how old is that version !

Me and Kouider  and others here have contributed for for previous work of Koha translation , and it will never be fair to remove our names from contributors list ( at least from my point of view ) .

The fair statement is the statement that can mention the efforts of everyone contributed .

And by the way any of us and anyone new has the right to contribute in translation work . so maybe if possible to generate a link from the translation system that lists all contributes ( this one lists only top ones ) that would be much more fair . as some contributors have contributed for small translations work and their efforts must also never be dismissed .

Thank you very much .

Hello friends,

On Jan 24, 2016 I sent an email (below) to Mr. Bernardo to please update/ correct the Translator credit statement in Arabic Koha; then again I sent the same (updated) email (below) to Mr. Bernardo on Dec 28, 2016 asking for the same. I got no response whatsoever from Mr. Bernardo!

I am sending the same request again for the 3rd time to Mr. Bernardo, copying Mr. Karam and Mr. Kouider this time asking both to please support and affirm our request of the statement to be updated.

I believe that the fair contribution statement needs to be stated as follows (or something in the same context):

KnowledgeWare Technologies is the contributor agent behind Arabic Koha UI translation for the following Koha releases: 3.2, 3.14,  3.16, 3.18, 3.20, 3.22, 16.xx  and 17.xx, and all future releases of Arabic Koha, unless it had been mentioned in this paragraph otherwise

Thanks,

Hi Bernardo,

Happy New Year!

Following my email (below) sent over a year ago now, the statement:

  • العربية (Arabic) Version 3.2 to 3.4, 3.16 & 3.18 by KnowledgeWare Technologies; Versions 3.6 to 3.14 by Arabic Koha support team: Karam Qubsi, Kouider Bounama, Sham Bajaa, Ghofran Alshami, Chrestian Aboud, Fatema Salem and Duaa Bazzazi.

is outdated and incorrect in many aspects. KnowledgeWare Technologies is the agent, and still, behind Koha UI translation, in particular for the following releases: 3.2, 3.14,  3.16, 3.18, 3.20, 3.22, 16.05 and 16.11 and 16.11.1

Kindly, lease update this statement in Koha in the coming release.

Thanks,

Hello Bernardo,

I have noticed in the following statement in Koha 3.22.01 Translation page:

العربية (Arabic) Version 3.2 to 3.4, 3.16 & 3.18 by KnowledgeWare Technologies; Versions 3.6 to 3.14 by Arabic Koha support team: Karam Qubsi, Kouider Bounama, Sham Bajaa, Ghofran Alshami, Chrestian Aboud, Fatema Salem and Duaa Bazzazi

that our contribution is limited up to 3.18, where we have done 3.20 and 3.22. Also, we are thr one who has translated Koha 3.14, but we have nothing to do with Koha 3.4.

Thank you for adding 3.14 (instead of 3.4), 3.20 and 3.22 to KnowledheWare's contributions list.

Re: Arabic Koha Translation Contribution - who done what

massoud alshareef
With all respect to your point view Mr. Karam, I did NOT suggest implicitly or explicitly to remove anybody name from the contribution list!

Simply put, is the statement as mentioned for these Arabic Koha releases true or not ?

You can add the other contributors names for the other Koha versions as you wish.

It is true that any person can contribute to the translation work. However, see for yourself who and how much contributions has been provided to Arabic Koha during the last couple of years, particularly since after 3.16 releases.

Thanks,
Massoud AlShareef
